GTA 6 vs GTA 5
GTA 6 arrives more than 13 years after GTA 5. Here are the differences Rockstar has actually shown, without speculation.
Setting: Leonida vs San Andreas
GTA 5 took place in Los Santos (Los Angeles) and Blaine County. GTA 6 moves to Leonida, Rockstar's Florida, with Vice City and five other regions. See every region.
Protagonists: two instead of three
GTA 5 had Michael, Franklin and Trevor. GTA 6 has two leads, Jason and Lucia, a couple whose relationship drives the story, and the first female lead of a modern GTA.
A much denser world
The trailers show crowds on beaches and in clubs, heavy traffic, wildlife in the swamps and detailed interiors on a scale GTA 5 never had. GTA 6 is built only for current consoles, which is what makes this possible; see why it skips PS4 and Xbox One.
Social media era
GTA 5 parodied early smartphones and Lifeinvader. GTA 6's trailers are full of vertical viral videos and livestreams, satirising today's internet culture.
Price and platforms
GTA 5 launched at $59.99 on PS3 and Xbox 360 before coming to PC 19 months later. GTA 6 costs $79.99 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC version announced yet.
